The original kitchen featured aging, warped cabinets, a mismatched countertop, and inconsistent finishes. With no cohesive design, poor lighting, and deteriorating surfaces, the space lacked both functionality and visual clarity, My goal was to create a clean, minimal, and highly usable kitchen space that matched the refreshed living room design from Project 1-1.
• Demolition & Tear-Down Removed existing wood cabinetry, wall paneling, and ceiling wood planks that visually weighed down the space. • Structural & Surface Improvements Installed a full drywall system (wall&ceiling), patched sanded, and painted.
• Flooring Upgrade
Replaced outdated tile with laminate wood plank flooring, chosen for it's warmth durability, and modern appeal. • Kitchen Cabinetry & Countertop Assembled and installed IKEA modular bas units, and custom cut the laminate wide with a jigsaw to fit the sink and corners precisely. This allowed for a quick, cost-effective upgrade with a polished result. • Plumbing & Sink Installation Reinstallation basic plumbing fixtures, secured sink placement, and ensured full function after countertop integration.
• Ventilation Prep & Installation
Rerouted ceiling wiring and installed fixture bases, to install range hood ventilation.
• Finishing Touches
Selected simple modern appliances and added a floating shelf and minimalist decor to maintain a sense of openness and balance.
Before & After The result is a fully revitalized kitchen with improved usability and cohesion with the adjacent living area. By integrating clean lines, bright finished, and functional layout choices, the space was transformed from worn-out and outdated to clean, welcoming, and modern-ready for daily use.
