Kitchen/Living Room

This unit's kitchen and living space had suffered from years of heavy wear and poor maintenance. The kitchen smelled of rotten food, was coated in grease, and featured water-damaged cabinets with signs of mold. The layout was cramped and inefficient, especially for modern usage. The living are lacked cohesion and brightness due to inconsistent flooring and aged finished. The goal was to create a fresh, functional, and visual unified space suitable for modern renters.

Kitchen Area

-Kitchen Tear-Out
Removed all existing kitchen cabinets, which were damaged, moldy, and greasy.
Demoed sink cabinet are due to water damage.

-Electrical & Plumbing
Extended electrical outlet wiring to relocate the refrigerator to a more practical corner.
Upgraded appliance outlets for modern use.

-Layout optimization & New Installation
Replaced stove, fridge, and other appliances with space saving alternatives.
Installed new IKEA base cabinets and cut new butcher block countertop with jigsaw.
Added open shelving and minimalist fixtures to create visual openness.

Living Area

-Floor Unification
Installed uniform laminate flooring from living area into kitchen for a seamless look.
-Wall Work & Painting
Patched extensive damage on walls and ceiling.
Painted entire space in fresh white for cleanliness and light reflection.

-Living Room Improvements
Installed new blinds and minimal furniture to match kitchen aesthetic.
Added adjustable lighting and wall sconces for layered lighting.

Arch Sliding Doorway Conversion

-Doorway Conversion
Transformed square doorway between living area and bedroom into arched entry.
Installed sliding mirror door for space-saving function and visual depth.

Before & After Impact

The kitchen and living space were completely reborn- from greasy, cramped, and dysfunctional to clean, airy, and modern. Unifying the flooring visually expanded the area, while the minimalist cabinetry and arched transition brought contemporary charm. The unit now feels cohesive and bright, with improved flow and enhanced livability, boosting its rental value and appeal.
