Project C-1
Camper Van Conversion

For this build, I began by removing the original metal door and side cabinets on both sides of the van. They lacked the structural integrity needed to support a bed frame, To reinforce the interior, I purchased 2x3 lumber and constructed a solid framework capable of supporting a bed. I then covered the frame with plywood panels and added hinged lids on top to allow for convenient storage access.

All work was done off-grid using a mobile power station to run my tools. I sourced larger cuts from Home Depot and handled all precision cuts for smaller components myself.

For the convertible sofa bed, I used two 1.5-inch thick plywood sheets for more sturdiness.I added side rails for support and custom-fit the pieces to allow the bed to fold in four sections-designed to match the dimensions of a folding mattress. After researching multiple configurations, this hybrid layout proved to b the most space-efficient solution for multipurpose use inside the van.

In addition to the structural build, I also sewed custom-fit window covers using reflective insulation material, providing Bothe privacy and thermal regulation. These were tailored on-site with a sewing machine to ensure a precise fit for each window.
